The first websites were hand-written HTML, uploaded over a dial-up modem. Then came Flash: multimedia CDs, animated websites and early web shops, and with them the habit of building whole things rather than parts.

From 2004 to 2016 Emil was a software developer and later IT manager at a Croatian industrial company, writing the internal systems the business ran on and running its infrastructure.

Freelance work ran alongside the whole time: around a hundred websites and shops for local businesses; custom business applications such as a warehouse dock-scheduling system for Ledo, a production-management system and a working-hours record that, rebuilt from the ground up, lives on as Cuketi today; logos and stationery for shops and workshops in the region; and, from 2012, regular web design and development for agencies in Switzerland and Germany, including one of Germany's largest media and advertising groups.

In 2016 he joined a large European fashion and e-commerce group, first as senior web designer, then team lead, then web art director. Ten years of multi-brand, multi-market work: landing page systems, a component-based email architecture across the group's brands, campaign production at a scale of hundreds of thousands of assets a year, and the automation needed to keep that manageable.

In 2026 RedAxis became the full-time job. What changed in the meantime is the tooling: AI-assisted development, content and production let a small studio do work that used to need a floor of people, without lowering the standard. That is the bet RedAxis is built on.
